The Missouri State University Theatre and Dance season continues with Mary Zimmerman's fresh adaptation of Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," directed by Kurt Heinlein. It tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his 10-year journey home from the Trojan War. Weary of battle, he wants nothing more than to return to his family--but his progress is interrupted variously by the Sirens' song, a witch's spell, the monstrous Cyclops and the possessive goddess Calypso. Meanwhile, back in Ithaca, Odysseus's wife is besieged by unruly suitors who covet his property. Will our hero overcome all these obstacles? Find out by seeing "The Odyssey" in Craig Hall Coger Theatre. Dates are Thursday through Saturday Oct.11-13 at 7:30pm, and 2:30pm Sunday Oct.14. Tickets are $14 adults, $12 students and seniors, or $8 in advance with MSU student ID. Call the MSU TIX number, 836-7678 or visit http://theatreanddance.missouristate.edu.
