Walton Arts Center's Joy Pratt Markham Gallery will host the "Arkansas Women to Watch" exhibition July 18 through August 17. A opening reception will be held Thursday, July 18 from 5:00-6:30pm at Walton Arts Center. The reception is free and open to the public, as is admission to the Markham Gallery. Five Arkansas artists will display inventive textile-based works in cooperation with the Arkansas State Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Louise Halsey of Little Rock creates woven tapestries as small commentaries on life. Barbara Cade of Hot Springs will show felted and mixed-media works. Former Rogers, Arkansas resident Jennifer Libby Fay's "textile paintings" explore the relationship between art, nature and spirituality. Jane Hartfield of Fort Smith will show hand-dyed and painted quilts that explore color relationships. And Deborah Kuster from the art faculty at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway creates art quilts quose creation goes beyond the loom.
