The 51st national, competitive, annual exhibition of aqueous media painting, Watercolor U.S.A. 2012, opens at the Springfield Art Museum June 9 and will continue through August 5th. It's free and open to the public. This annual exhibit attracts entries from across the country. This year they received entries by 371 artists from 42 states. This year's judge was Miranda Lash, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the New Orleans Museum of Art; she selected 113 works by 102 artists from 31 states. Area artists in this year's show include Helen Long from Branson, Carol Anderson from Camdenton, Fred Schollmeyer from Chamois, Robert McClelland from Grover, Cindy Kopenhafer from Pleasant Hope, Carl Glasemeyer, Kristin Sims Strong, Karla Breeding Trammell and Sharon Warren all from Springfield, and Barbara Williams from West Plains.
