Absentee voting begins today (2/21) for those who will be out of town during the April 4 Greene County Election. Theballot will include a variety of issues and candidates in eight cities, nine school districts, two fire protection districts and one public water supply district. One issue that will be on the ballot is the $189 million bond issuefor Springfield Public Schools, which would fund phase one of the district’s Facility Master Plan. Bond issues for schools will also be decided in Willard and Republic.
In addition, Springfield voters will choose city council members, including mayor.
Absentee ballots may be voted in the Greene County Clerk’s office in the Greene County Archives/Elections Center, 11 26 N. Boonville in Springfield, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until the day before the election. Homebound or out-of-town voters may request an absentee ballot by mail, and the requests must be received in the clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. March 29. Mailed ballots must be voted, notarized, returned by mail and received in the clerk's office before 7 p.m. on April 4.
