April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

https://www.childwelfare.gov/

This week on Making Democracy Work host Ilga Vise speaks with Holley Beadle and Dr. Kayce Morton.

Holley Beadle is the executive director of Isabelle's House, who's goal is to provide immediate refuge for children ages birth to 12 whose families are in crisis to prevent child abuse and neglect. Dr. Morton is a pediatrician with the Cox Heath Network.

Listen in as the three discuss April's focus on child abuse prevention and local agencies are working together to bring attention to the issues of child abuse and how it impacts the overall health of our community.

Some of the agencies participating in this effort areIsabell's House, the Child Advocacy Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA of Southwest Missouri), and the Victim Center.

In an effort to bring awareness to this issue a new documentary called "Resilience" will be shown at the Missouri State Welcome Center on April 20th at 6:00pm. This will be followed by a panel discussion. For more information visit this site.
