Biology, Medicine and Politics Make for Difficult Choices

Dr. Henry Stratmann

It is a given that the political landscape is littered with the remains of issues of all kinds.  It sometimes seems as if the level of discourse rarely rises above the basic.  So, it is fitting that we spend this time of year discussing some STEM topics which are likely to be part of the conversation for years to come.  Dr. Henry Stratmann, a long time Springfield cardiologist and author, has thought a good deal about biology and medicine and their interaction with the public good.  Listen in as he and I chat about disease, healthcare and a variety of other concerns.

Dr. David Cornelison has been working as an educator and scientist in Arizona and Missouri universities for the last 32 years. From 2010-2018, he was the head of the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Materials Science at Missouri State University. His research interests lie at the intersection of experimental condensed-matter physics and astrophysics, while his educational efforts have focused on outreach to the K-12 school system. Most of all, he believes in curiosity-driven learning in the sciences and all other fields.
