Branson Makes Improvements to Treatment Plant

The City of Branson hopes new improvements it’s made at the Compton Sewer Treatment Plant will help protect critical infrastructure.

According to city officials, Branson has worked to improve its flood defenses after each big flood. It’s currently using lessons learned during the 2017 flood events.

Last fall, improvements were made in narrow areas of an earthen berm surrounding the treatment plant.  That will allow for better deployment of an Aqua Dam, an expandable rubber membrane, which gives an extra six feet of protection around the facility when it’s filled with water, according to the city.

The City also spent around $7,000 to buy 800’ of roll out discharge hose for its portable pumps.

The City has also identified a need for additional pumping capacity at the Compton plant effluent structure if the lake level reaches the Aqua Dam. A plan to meet this need is now in place.

Branson Utilities Director, Mike Ray, says it’s imperative they do what they can to protect the City’s critical treatment infrastructure and facilities.
