Another round of revisions has been made to Branson’s proposed ordinance banning smoking in public places.
Following six weeks of community input, the Board of Aldermen on Monday made note of new language in the proposal, which includes allowance for smoking in up to 20 percent of hotel and motel rooms.
The first draft of the ordinance was released to the community on August 12, and then a revision two weeks later.
Removed from the proposal were regulations for outdoor smoking in areas such as patios, RV campgrounds and business entrances. The proposed maximum fine for violations, which was originally $500, has now been reduced to $25.
The smoke-free ordinance applies to both traditional cigarettes and electronic cigarettes.
Citizens wishing to comment at Tuesday evening’s meeting are asked to sign up prior to 7 p.m., when the Board of Aldermen convene. The aldermen may vote on the proposed ordinance on Oct. 14.
