The city of Branson’s environmental specialist wants you to know that much of your holiday trash can be recycled.

Mona Menezes says things that can be recycled include:  cardboard boxes, packaging, wrapping paper and tissue paper with the exception of anything shiny or foil; catalogues, greeting cards, envelopes and any other kind of clean, dry paper; tin cans, glass jars and bottles and aluminum cans (no need to remove labels) and all kinds of plastic.

Branson’s full-service recycle center is located at 601 Compton Drive and is open 24/7.

A recycle trailer, also open 24/7, is located in the Branson United Methodist Church parking lot on Highway 76.  Recycling materials can also be dropped off at the new Taney County Transfer Station recycle trailer on Buchannan Rd. near Branson High School Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm and Saturday 8 am to noon.

After the holidays are over, real Christmas trees can be recycled at the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery for wildlife habitat and trail maintenance.

You can drop off trees with all decorations and tinsel removed, at the boat ramp at the hatchery, 24/7.  Look for the green Tree Recycling signs.

The City of Springfield isn't charging the $4 gate fee for those with live trees at the Yardwaste Recycling Center through January 30th.  Other options for recycling real trees in Springfield:

Bass Pro at the fenced area in the northwest end of the parking lot directly behind the store December 26-January 1.  A $2 donation per tree will benefit Boy Scouts.

Wickman's, 1345 S. Fort, will accept trees December 26-January 31 Monday through Friday 8 am to 5:30 pm, Saturday 8 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.  In Monett, 10791 U.S. Highway 60, hours are 8:30 am to 5:3o pm, Saturday 8:30 am to 5 pm and Sunday noon to 5.
