Funding Lacking for Mental Healthcare in Missouri

dreamstime.com

For the last two years, the League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri has been involved in a local study focusing on the accessibility and affordability of mental health care services for adults in Greene County. The League continues to gather information and will partner with Community Partnership of the Ozarks for the mental health collaborative scheduled to begin this spring.

Mark Stringer, Director of Missouri Division of Behavioral Health with the Missouri Department of Mental Health discusses how his office affects mental health issues in Greene County with regards to funding, how mental health services have changed over the past 10 years and how some communities are leaning toward alternative programming when dealing with their community’s mental health issues.

The League of Women Voters will host a forum, "Challenges and Opportunities for Improving Adult Mental Health Care Services in Greene County," with Stringer as the featured speaker Thursday night (1/29) at 6 at the Library Center.  It's free and open to the public.  For more information, click here.
