Over 200 nonprofit agencies are gearing up for the second annual Give Ozarks day, during which citizens are encouraged to donate to an organization as part of a 24-hour online fundraiser.

Nearly 70 communities across central and southern Missouri will participate in Give Ozarks 2016 on Tuesday, May 3.

Presented by Community Foundation of the Ozarks and BKD Wealth Advisors, the fundraiser encourages people to give at any level to raise awareness of philanthropy. Online donations have a $5 minimum, while participating agencies can accept donations in any amount before and during the day to count toward their Give Ozarks final totals.

Nonprofit agencies providing a wide spectrum of services to Missourians will be working to raise tax-deductible online donations and hold a variety of live events and activities for 24 hours from midnight to midnight on May 3. The website to participate is giveozarks.org (#giveozarks).

At least $1,000 in prizes for nonprofits will be drawn each hour throughout the day with winners announced on giveozarks.org and by the agencies and media partners. An hourly prize schedule is available at: giveozarks.org/prizes.

“While philanthropy and charitable giving know no season, we are very excited for the opportunity to focus on a day to emphasize giving,” CFO President Brian Fogle said. “We are excited especially for year two. Although the success of year one exceeded most expectations, we are finding awareness of the event and its purpose have grown significantly in advance of this year’s day.”

During the first Give Ozarks Day in May 2015, about 150 participating nonprofit agencies raised more than $1 million in a 24-hour period.
