The newest attraction at Silver Dollar City opens this Saturday to coincide with the start of the Branson amusement park’s spring schedule.
The $8 million Fireman’s Landing features four interactive play zones and six rides, including FireFall, a free-fall drop ride 8-stories high.
The new edition replaces the former Geyser Gulch.
SDC officials tout the landing as one that caters to people ages 3-93. According to its website, “Fireman’s Landing harkens back to the days of bucket brigades and volunteer firemen with rides and attractions ready to train and entertain would-be recruits.”
The theme has historical background, too, as the 1880s town Marmaros, once located on the site of Silver Dollar City, was burned to the ground by a blaze more than 100 years ago.
Brad Thomas, general manager of SDC, said in a news release, “Now fast forward to the fictional story for Fireman’s Landing, where the citizens share a desire to band together to prevent such an event -- to be ready with volunteer recruits who have trained to test their preparedness. The message carries that everyone can give back through volunteerism and community spirit.”
Other rides and attractions include low-flying swings, a foam ball cannon station, obstacle course, and soft play area for toddlers.
Spring hours at Silver Dollar City are from 9:30 am – 6 pm March 14-15, 18-22 and 26-27. Visit its website to learn more.
