IMAGES: Thousands March in Springfield to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Woke up this morning thinking about freedom,” they sang, as thousands marched through Springfield Monday in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.

A record crowd of all races, genders, and ages used words, signs, and t-shirts to speak the message of Dr. King, marching from the Mediacom Ice Park to the Gillioz Theatre.

Subsequent entertainment at the Gillioz included Missouri State's "Untamed Tongues" poetry group, culture emphasis by the "Big Momma's Back Porch Theatre Troupe," and words from Springfield NAACP President Cheryl Clay.
