Leslie Carrier talks with MO Secretary of State Jason Kander about his office's efforts to protect investors.

According to Kander, the office has a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including the role of Chief Securities Regulator.  A team of lawyers, auditors and investigators, "work to help Missourians who, in one way or another, have been scammed," he said.

Although most of the state's financial services employees are honest, hard-working professionals, he says, there are those who want to take advantage of people.

The Secretary of State's Office not only works to protect investors from those who wish to take advantage of them but also educates the public about scams.

The Missouri Investor Protection Center website, missourisafesavings.com, allows people to research their broker.
