MSU Concert Chorale Plans Spring Trip to South Africa, Holds Fundraiser at Tower Club

Members of the Missouri State University Concert Chorale, the MSU Music Department's flagship touring choral ensemble, will present a dinner and Christmas concert Wednesday December 2nd at 6:00pm in the Tower Club, 901 S. Louis (21st floor of Hammons Tower).  It will be fundraiser for the group's major tour next spring.

Chorale member Anna Davis organized this fundraiser, which will include a three-course dinner prepared and served by Tower Club staff.  Between courses and after dinner an octet from the Concert Chorale will perform Christmas songs and carols.  There will also be a silent auction and raffle for goods and services donated by area businesses.

Anna says the Chorale's trip will take place right after graduation in May 2016, and will take the more than 50-member group to South Africa--with a one-day layover in Europe.  Not an inexpensive trip by any means, which is the reason for the fundraiser.  It's 0ne of several the Concert Chorale will hold during the school year.

Admission to the dinner/concert on Dec. 2nd is $35 for adults, $10.95 for children age 12 and under.  They would appreciate patrons ordering their tickets by Wednesday November 25, the day before Thanksgiving, so the Tower Club can properly prepare for the number of persons who will attend.  Anna--who also works at the Tower Club--promises an excellent dinner... well, and excellent performances by the octet too!  For information call or text Anna Davis at (417) 399-2726 or email her at davis2464@live.missouristate.edu.

Randy Stewart joined the full-time KSMU staff in June 1978 after working part-time as a student announcer/producer for two years. His job has evolved from Music Director in the early days to encompassing production of a wide range of arts-related programming and features for KSMU, including the online and Friday morning Arts News. Stewart assists volunteer producers John Darkhorse (Route 66 Blues Express), Lee Worman (The Gold Ring), and Emily Higgins (The Mulberry Tree) with the production of their programs. He's also become the de facto "Voice of KSMU" in recent years due to the many hours per day he’s heard doing local station breaks. Stewart’s record of service on behalf of the Springfield arts community earned him the Springfield Regional Arts Council's Ozzie Award in 2006.
