MU Preparing to Launch Springfield Medical Campus

University of Missouri medical students are getting hands on experience in Springfield this summer for the first time through MU’s Clinical Campus in the city.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for Monday at its campus along National Avenue.

Mercy Springfield and CoxHealth are serving as the training grounds for the MU students.

Earlier this year, Dr. Andrew J. Evans was appointed to lead the Springfield Clinical Campus, which is a new extension of the MU School of Medicine. It serves as another venue in which to train more students in this high-demand field.

The first cohort was to include roughly 10 students at both Mercy and Cox. At full capacity, the program will train up to 64 medical students.

Monday’s ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11:45 am at MU’s Springfield Clinical Campus, 1845 S. National Avenue.
