New Intersection Coming to Christian County, Springfield’s Newest Diverging Diamond Nearly Complete

MoDOT

Changes are coming in mid-September to the Christian County Route CC/J and route 65 interchange.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says crews will build another bridge over Route 65, convert the interchange into a diverging diamond, and widen the roadway. On Thursday, citizens have the opportunity to learn more about the project, in a meeting at James River Church in Ozark.

“The public is invited to come and talk with our MoDOT engineers along with contractor representatives to learn about all the different parts of the project,” says Angela Eden, a senior communications specialists with MoDOT.

Angela Eden is with MoDOT’s southwest district. She says that during the $8.3 million project, drivers should be aware that there will sometimes be nighttime lane closings. In addition, at the end of the project Route CC/J at Route 65 will be closed for up to 32 hours to allow a final inspection of the completed diverging diamond.

This project will continue through the winter and is projected to be completed in June 2016.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. at James River Church, South Commons Room #2, at 6100 N. 19th Street in Ozark.

Meanwhile, MoDOT is nearing completion on major projects in Springfield, including the $12.5 million diverging diamond at Battlefield and Route 65.

“We will have to close Battlefield road again over a weekend to make the final configuration to the completed diverging diamond,” says Eden.

Completion is expected in September.

Also coming to a close, road work on Kansas Expressway between Mt. Vernon and Chestnut Expressway. All four lanes are scheduled to soon reopen for drivers after the pavement has been striped.
