Starting next Monday, you’ll have another option for applying for a passport.  The Library Station on N. Kansas Expressway will become the 2nd library branch to accept the applications.  The Library Center is already accepting them.

You can apply for a passport at either location from 8:30 am to 8 pm Monday thru Saturday and 1 to 4 Sunday.  Librarians are trained and certified to accept the applications and take passport photos if needed.

Before you head to the library, though, you’ll first need to download an application at travel.state.gov and find out what document and fees are required when applying at the library.  The libraries also have application forms if you don’t have access to a computer.  The libraries can’t renew existing passports and only checks or money orders are accepted.

Since the service began at the Library  Center, staff has processed more than 2,945 passport applications and taken 1, 965 passport photos.
