Springfield has hired Frank Romines as its new city attorney. Romines currently serves as senior corporate counsel for Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. He’ll begin his role with the city on July 13.

According to a news release from the city, Romines began his career as an associate attorney in Husch & Eppenberger, LLC’s Springfield office. He has also worked for Shughart, Thomson and Kilroy, P.C. as an associate attorney and Leggett & Platt, Inc., where he served as assistant general counsel.

“I am excited to start a new challenge with the City, and look forward to providing legal support in furtherance of its goals and objectives. Springfield is a community I care deeply about, and I will work hard to protect and promote the City’s best interests,” Romines said in the release. “I feel fortunate to be joining a dedicated group of professionals who strive everyday to ensure Springfield remains a great place to live.”

Romines was born and raised in Houston, Missouri, and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. While practicing law locally, he earned a master of business administration from Missouri State University and also received his bachelor of arts in economics and communication from Drury University, summa cum laude, with honors.

“Frank has a reputation as a quick study and a hard worker, with a passion for public service. It’s about time he came to work with the City,” says City Manager Greg Burris. “I’m convinced he will be a great addition to the City’s already great legal team. I can’t wait to see what the combination produces.”

Romines was chosen from a nationwide search to replace Dan Wichmer, who earlier this year accepted the position of executive director of Legal Services of Southern Missouri. Marianne Banks has served as interim City Attorney since March 14.
