Nixa Schools Closer to Choosing New Superintendent

The Nixa Board of Education has narrowed down the superintendent candidates to two finalists.  But the Board isn’t ready to release the names of the finalists.

According to a statement from the school district, “the Board of Education is on track to meet the December 14 date to announce the new superintendent.”

In February, the Nixa Public School District announced its new superintendent search timeline. Applications were scheduled to be accepted from August-October, with interviews set for November and a new superintendent announced in December.

Nixa’s current superintendent, Dr. Stephen Kleinsmith, will retire at the end of this school year.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand. She enjoys working on both the announcing side and in news and has been the recipient of statewide and national awards for news reporting. She likes to tell stories that make a difference. Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
