Ozark Greenways: Connecting Springfield With Nature

Ozark Greenways celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a series of special events to showcase the various trails in and around Springfield, including a special National Trails Day event on Saturday, June 4 to link up two existing trails, a first for this trail system!

Currently, there are almost 70 miles of biking and walking trails, plus a 35-mile trail from northwest Springfield to the city of Bolivar.  The trails are funded by both public and private money and many of the developments have been in cooperation with other local government agencies who have been able to leverage dollars by partnering together.

Mary Kromrey, the Development and Civic Engagement Specialist, and Mike Chiles, the President of the Board of Directors, share the history of the trail system and talk about the community and economic impact of having a healthy trail system.
