Republicans Dominate in Howell and Newton County Races

In Newton and Howell Counties, Republican candidates for office came out on top Tuesday.

Contested races in Howell County included those for state representative for Districts 142 and 154. In District 142, Robert Ross (Rep) won with 82.41% of the votes, a decisive victory against his opponent Bobby Johnston, Jr. (Dem). District 154 will be represented by Shawn Rhoads (Rep), who gained 74.94% of the vote against Terry Hampton (Ind).

Newton County featured a contested race for coroner.  In that race, 80.07% of the votes went to Dale Owen (Rep) who was up against Roxie Fausnaught (Lib).
