The National Weather Service in Springfield is forecasting snow today across the Missouri Ozarks.

"Now, specific to the Springfield metro area, we are forecasting anywhere from about three to four inches of snow through today," said Doug Cramer, NWS meteorologist.

Cramer said areas to the south and east of Springfield are expected to see the most snow.

"The National Weather Service is forecasting the heaviest snow amounts to occur over south central Missouri, so over towards the Ozark Scenic Riverway towards West Plains, Ava, Alton, Texas County, maybe down to Gainesville, the National Weather Service is forecasting four to six inches in those areas," he said.

Sleet has fallen already on the Ozarks.

According to Cramer, the snow should start around mid-morning and will taper off by mid to late afternoon in the Springfield area.
