A soccer tournament this month is expected to have a positive impact on the Springfield economy.  The 30th annual Lake Country Soccer Fall Classic Incredible Pizza Tournament will be held October 18-19 at Lake Country Soccer, 2334 E. Pythian.

About 2000 players along with their coaches and family members will be here for the event.  A total of 133 teams, Boys Under 9 through Under 14 and Girls Under 9 through Under 18 are expected to compete.  Last year, 73 teams participated in the event, according to the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Competitive and recreational teams from Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Illinois are registered for the tournament, and, according to a CVB news release, "multiple hotels will be used to house teams traveling to the city."

Admission for spectators is free.  Games start at 8 am October 18 and last until about 8 pm.  Games on the 19th start at 8 am and run until around 5 pm.
