A Springfield company which manufactures advanced electronics security and monitoring products says it’s expanding, a move that will create 65 new jobs.

The $7 million investment by Digital Monitoring Products was announced today as part of the company’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Established in 1975, the company designs, builds, distributes and supports panels, sensors, other devices and software, and related communication services from its Springfield headquarters and sells directly to select alarm companies. According to a news release, the DMP expansion will create jobs in manufacturing, engineering and development, and support services.

"We are very excited about the growth potential and opportunities that are available to us here in Springfield. We are happy to continue to add manufacturing jobs as well as high-tech engineering and software developer positions in southwest Missouri," said Vice President of Product Design for DMP, Jeff Britton, in a news release. "We look forward to our next 40 years of stability and growth."

According to the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the expansion project includes Enhanced Enterprise Zone incentives from the city of Springfield and Missouri Works incentives from the state.

Despite some recent closings and other announced closings within the local manufacturing industry, the chamber says the sector is on the rise.

It says since last October, manufacturing grew by 2.7 percent in the region, accounting for roughly 400 new jobs. Over the last five years, the chamber says the industry has grown 22.8 percent or 2,800 net new jobs.
