This Labor Day weekend marks the last chance for area residents to swim in the summer sun. Final hours of operation for Springfield’s outdoor public pools, Fassnight and Grant Beach, are Saturday through Monday, 1-6:30 pm.

Fassnight and Grant Beach are offering $1 admission, or free entry with a canned food donation on Monday. All donations go to Ozarks Food Harvest.

Tuesday, dog owners may return to Fassnight pool from 4-7 p.m. for Dog Swim. This annual fundraiser for Cruse Dog Park raises money for maintenance and improvements for Springfield’s first off-leash dog park.

“Not all dogs do love the water but those that do have a great time at dog swim,” Jenny Fillmer Edwards, Public Information Administrator for Springfield-Greene County Park Board said.

Admission is $8 per dog/human pair and $3 for each additional person. Preregistration and proof of vaccinations are required.

Springfield-Greene County Park Board closed its four other outdoor pools Aug. 14. This is to coincide with the class schedule of students, who make up the majority of pool staff.

Indoor swimming is available at Chesterfield Family Center and Doling Family Center. Both locations charge $8 per adult and $6 for youth/seniors daily without a membership.
