Facebook

A candlelight vigil is planned for 5 p.m. Sunday to honor the four lives lost in a fatal traffic accident near Highlandville on Wednesday.

The crash killed three teenagers from Nixa; 17-year-old Landon C. Potts, the driver, 19-year-old Logan A. Middleton, 19-year-old Cody R. Uber, and one person from Sparta; 19-year-old Lance D. Porterfield. Middleton and Uber were graduates of Nixa High School, according to a school spokesman, and Potts was a junior.

Eight teens were riding in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup southbound on Pleasant View Road at the time of the crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The report says that at around 10:40 p.m. the truck traveled off of the left side of the road and struck a tree. None of the four killed were listed as wearing seatbelts. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sunday’s vigil will be held at the Union Hill Church of Christ, 865 N. Nicholas Road in Nixa, beginning at 5 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a candle.
