Democrat Jeff Munzinger and Republican Craig Fishel have announced their candidacies for Missouri House of Representatives, District 136, which encompasses southeast Springfield and Greene County.

Kevin Austin currently holds that seat and has said he plans to retire.  Munzinger, a retired businessman and community volunteer, said his number one priority will be education at every level.  His other top issues will be healthcare, the environment and transportation.

Fishel, a small business owner, said his top issues will be attracting new businesses to the state and growing existing ones, equitable funding for public education and finding a balanced solution to Missouri’s transportation funding crisis.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand.
