Warming Center to Open Saturday in Springfield

The Kitchen Inc

The area’s homeless will have a place to go tomorrow night (1/9) to get out of the cold.  The Salvation Army says it will open its Emergency Overnight Warming Center tomorrow night at 7.  The center will stay open until Sunday morning at 7:45.  It’s located at 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.

The warming center opens when the National Weather Service predicts the wind chill will reach 14 degrees or below.

Tomorrow night’s low is expected to be around 14 degrees with a wind chill around zero.

The Salvation Army says last year its warming center was open a total of 29 nights and served 386 unduplicated individuals.
