George Washington National Monument will host a Storytelling Festival tonight (8/26) from 6 to 8 and tomorrow (8/27) from 11 to 3.  Emmy Award-winning storyteller, Bobby Norfolk, will share stories about York from the Lewis and Clark expedition, Loretta Washington will share Missouri African American folktales and traditional stories, Al Bostick will tell stories about the Buffalo Soldiers and Marideth Sisco will share Ozark folktales and stories.  To learn more, nps.gov/gwca.  KSMU's Michele Skalicky talks with Randall Becker, supervisory park ranger at George Washington Carver National Monument, about teh storytelling festival.

The Movies at Founders Park series continues this weekend in Founders Park in downtown Springfield.  “Star Wars:  The Force Awakens,” rated PG-13, will be shown tonight (8/26) and “Meet the Parents,” rated PG-13, will be shown tomorrow night (8/27) at dusk.  Free tickets are available in advance at Mediacom Ice Park, Mediacom offices, the Busch Municipal Building and at Springfield-Greene County Park Board family centers.

Soccer Ball and Net

Learn woodcarving from members of the Southern Missouri Woodcarvers Artists tomorrow morning (8/27) at 11 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  And you can stop by anytime from 1 to 4 to watch woodcarving demonstrations.  To register for the class, 888-4237.
