It's the Fourth of July weekend, and lots of celebrations are planned including one in Midtown Springfield.  KSMU's Michele Skalicky talks with Jim Downing about the Midtown Fourth of July Parade and Celebration.

First Friday Art Walk is tonight (7/3) from 6 to 10 at 15 venues in downtown Springfield.  Learn more here.

See the movie musical, “1776,” today (7/3) at 1 at the Strafford Branch Library.

Kids in grades six through eight can see the movie, “Mulan,” today (7/3) at 4 at the Library Center.

The Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival continues through tomorrow (7/4) in Conway.  Performers today include Doyle Dawson & Quicksilver, Nothin’ Fancy, Wildwood Valley Boys and more.  For details, click here.

Fireworks

The 8th annual Liberty Light Up event, presented by Convoy of Hope, will be held tonight (7/3) at 6 at Branson Landing.  Performers include the Springfield Symphony, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Dino and Cheryl Kartsonakis and more.  Fireworks will begin at dark.  Clickhere for more information.

The 62nd annual Hollister Fireworks will be held tomorrow (i7/4) at the Chad A. Fuqua Park, 312 Esplanade Drive in Hollister beginning at dark.

Kimberling City presents Fireburst, a fireworks show over Table Rock Lake, tomorrow night (7/4).  The best viewing spot from land is near the bridge, but the show can be viewed by boat as well.  For details, click here.

Rockaway Beach will host a 4th of July celebration tomorrow (7/4). A parade starts at 11 am.  At 1, there will be games, hot dogs, races, a treasure hunt and more on the beach.  A fireworks display begins when it gets dark.  For more information, click here.

The fourth annual Fire in the Sky event will be held tomorrow (7/4) in Harrison, Arkansas.  Activities downtown will include turtle races, a parade at 10:30 and a street dance.  Tomorrow night at the Anstaff Soccer Complex, there will be canoe and kayak rides, ice cream and hot wings eating contests and Fire in the Sky at dusk.  Click here for details.

The Four States Farmers Market will be open tomorrow (7/4) from 8:30 to 1 at 925 S. Range Line Rd. in Joplin.  To learn more, click here.

All branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library District will be closed tomorrow (7/4) for Independence Day.

Nixa’s Sky High 4th of July Celebration starts tomorrow (7/4) at 5 pm at High Pointe Elementary School, 900 Cheyenne Road in Nixa.  The event will include food vendors, face painting, live entertainment, inflatables, lip sync battles and a fireworks display.  Parking will be available on the field at the corner of North St. and Cheyenne Rd.  There will be a shuttle from the X-Center and Century Elementary.

Springfield’s Old-Fashioned 4th of July Parade and Celebration will be held tomorrow (7/4) from 10 to 1 rain or shine.  The parade starts at 10 on Benton in the Drury parking lot north of Central High School and will turn right on Calhoun, left on Washington and right on E. Locust to Washington Park.  After the parade, there will be live music, games and free ice cream and drinks at the park. 

Battlefield will host Fireworks in the Park tomorrow night (7/4) from 5 to 10 in Battlefield City Park with inflatables, face painting, food and fireworks.  For more information, 883-5840.

The Marshfield 4th of July Parade will start at 10 tomorrow morning (7/4).  It’s the longest-running Independence Day Celebration west of the Mississippi—136 years.  For details, click here.

Fireworks at the Field will be held tomorrow night (7/4) at dark after the Springfield Cardinals game.  Fans will be allowed on the field to watch the show.  Free ice skating will be available at Mediacom Ice Park for those with a Cardinals tickets, which start at $9 for general admission.  The Creamery Arts Center will host free arts activities for kids from 2 to 5.  For more information, click here.

A Splash ‘n Sizzle event is planned for tomorrow (7/4) from noon to 5:30 at Grant Beach and Fassnight Pools.  Admission is $1 or a canned food item for Ozarks Food Harvest.  Anyone with a military ID or VFW card will get in free.  For details, click here.
