Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau

Nicholas Gunn presents, “Haunting, Mysterious & Sacred Places,” through Sunday (3/19) at the Gillioz Theatre.  Participants will tour off-limit areas of the theatre’s haunted past and then Gunn will present a light, music and dance show will seated on the Gillioz stage. 

The sixth annual Man Show Expo is today and tomorrow (3/17-3/18) at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis St., in downtown Springfield. 

TheActive Older Adults Luncheon is today (3/17) at 12:30 at the Joplin YMCA.  It’s open to members and nonmembers.  Take a side dish to share. 

The exhibit, “From Home to Over There:  Greene County in the Great War,” is at the History Museum on the Square in Springfield through July 7.

The Missouri Extension’s Blueberry School is today and tomorrow (3/17-3/18) at the Darr School of Agriculture.

The Missouri Stream Team Introductory Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Workshop will be held tomorrow (3/18) at Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center in Joplin. 

A free educational event, Reptile Day at the Fairbanks, will be held tomorrow (3/18) from 10 to 5 at the Fairbanks, 1126 N. Broadway in Springfield.  There will be live reptiles to see and touch. 

The annual Corndog Kickoff will be held tomorrow night (3/18) from 6 to 9 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds.  Try a variety of fair food and beverages.  Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. 

The Moxie will host three screenings of the original 1996 film, “Trainspotting,” tonight (3/17) at 8:45, tomorrow night (3/18) at 8:30 and Sunday night (3/19) at 6:30. 

The 37th annual Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts tomorrow (3/18) at 2 beginning at the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge and proceeding downtown to Park Central Square.  Festivities start at noon at the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge with vendors and the Irish Pet Contest at 12:30. 

Joplin Parks and Recreation will host aKids’ Garage Sale tomorrow (3/18) at Memorial Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.   

George Washington Carver National Monument will host the off-site “Neosho Historic Schoolhouse Program,” tomorrow and Sunday (3/18-3/19) at 1 at the location of what was historically known as the Neosho Colored School.  Carver attended the school in 1876.  The site is at 639 Young St. in Neosho.

The 35th annualVictorian Classic 10K is tomorrow (3/18) through the hills of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  There’s also a two-mile walk/run.  Proceeds benefit Samaritan’s Feet, which provides shoes to children in need. 

The Conservation TEENS at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center will learn how to use GPS units for geocaching tomorrow morning (3/18).  To register, 888-4237.

The sixth annual SCAN Benefit Auction will be held tomorrow (3/18) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mills Center, 650 Mills Dr., in Lebanon.  The event will include a live and silent auction, a cake walk and a raffle all to benefit the SCAN Education and Activity Center. 

Families are invited to learn how to geocache using GPS units during the program, “Family Treasure Hunting,” tomorrow (3/18) from 1 to 4 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  To register, 888-4237.

Lonestar will be the featured performer during a cystic fibrosis benefit at the West Plains Civic Center tomorrow night (3/18) at 5.
