Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park

Fall Fest continues through October 26th at Rutledge-Wilson Community Farm Park.  Hours are Saturdays 11 to 6 and Sundays from noon to 6.  A Haunted Trail opens tonight (10/3) and will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 through October 25th.  Admission to the Haunted Trail is $5.  For more information, click here.

The Greene County Master Gardener chapter will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special event tonight (10/3).  A reception, with chef Craig Von Foerster grilling vegetables and serving a light dinner in the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, will be held from 4 to 6:30.  AT 7, the event moves to the Darr Agricultural Center for a lecture by well-known plants expert, Dr. Todd Lasseigne, who has travelled the world collecting landscape plants.  The topic will be “Plant Collecting.”  Tickets are $15 and are available at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. The 5th annual Springfield Jazz Festival starts at 6 tonight (10/3) on Park Central Square featuring the Linda Sala Project, Brandon Mezzelo’s Haus Quartet, the Richard Bruton Quartet, the Arthur Duncan Trio, the MSU Jazz Studies Ensemble and the Missouri Jazz Orchestra with guest artist Bob Lark.  For more information, click here.

Primitive Skills Day is Sunday (10/5) from 1 to 5 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  See demonstrations in flint knapping, bow and arrow construction, making cordage out of plant fibers, beadwork and fire making.  There will also be Dutch oven cooking demonstrations.  No registration is needed.
