Zoo Working to Help Feed the Hungry

Dickerson Park Zoo

Two local non-profits are teaming up to help the hungry in the Ozarks.  Dickerson Park Zoo is hosting "Zooper Bowl" through Sunday (2/1) to benefit Ozarks Food Harvest.  Each day, from 10 am to 4 pm, the zoo is offering half-price admission for anyone who donates two non-perishable food items.

Suggested donations include: canned meats, peanut butter, canned soups and stews, dry or canned beans, boxed meals, rice, pasta, canned spaghetti sauce, canned fruits and vegetables and cereals.  Glass containers can't be accepted.

This is the 4th year Dickerson Park Zoo has hosted Zooper Bowl.  More than 360 pounds of food was collected during the nine-day food drive last year--equivalent of 302 meals.  Zoo leaders hope to at least double that number this year.
