Women And Girls Lead

Women and Girls Lead Logo

Women and Girls Lead is a public media initiative designed to focus, educate, and connect women, girls, and their allies across the globe to address the challenges of the 21st century. As more women and girls step into leadership roles, there’s still a huge need to address equal access, freedom, and opportunity for women and girls worldwide.

The Independent Television Service, or ITVS, which provides independent content to public television stations, has recently seen several stories surfacing about women’s leadership, while public dialogue about fighting poverty, violence and extremism increasingly focuses on women & girls. ITVS saw an opportunity to implement a new strategy and amplify voices to reach out in innovative ways.

Women and Girls Lead is comprised of a variety of activities including television and online broadcasts such as Independent Lens, Frontline and POV specials, outreach partnerships with national and international organizations, and opportunities for public television stations to host community events, educate the public and form meaningful partnerships.

Our goals for WAGL in this community include education and empowerment. We’d like to create awareness of the global issues women and girls are facing and the effects it can have. We also want to empower our community to address these issues and to step into leadership roles and realize their potential.

In Springfield and the surrounding areas, Ozarks Public Broadcasting wants Women & Girls Lead to have the biggest impact possible. With your support and ideas, we can make that possible.
