If you use the McDaniel Lake Bridge, you’ll have to find a new way to get to where you’re going.The Greene County Highway Department temporarily closed the bridge Thursday to traffic due to safety concerns.The Highway Department and Missouri Department of Transportation conducted a regular biannual bridge inspection Wednesday, which led to concerns over the bridge’s integrity. A more detailed engineering analysis is underway.In the meantime, motorists need to plan alternate routes around McDaniel Lake.The bridge, located on Farm Road 76 between Farm Rd. 145 and Farm Rd. 151, was constructed in 1929 when the McDaniel Dam was constructed. It spans 403 feet over McDaniel Lake.The bridge remains open to pedestrians.

Springfield’s domestic violence shelters are almost always at full capacity, but they’re not the only ones. KSMU’s Chasity Mayes tells us how a statewide crisis has shelters turning victims away this holiday season.

Deliverance Temple at 2101 W. Chestnut Expressway hosts their annual "Christmas Candlelight Concert" Sunday Dec.19 at 6:00pm, featuring the Voices of Deliverance Choir and other musical guests in an evening of Christmas music. It's free and open to the public.

A donor has stepped forward with a significant contribution to help prevent the historic Gillioz Theatre from being foreclosed and sold. Now, Springfield Landmarks Preservation Trust, which owns the building, is asking the community to make up the difference so it can pay off the debt that’s owed to Guaranty Bank.
