The Branson Airport will resume seasonal flights to Austin, Texas this summer for the second consecutive year.

Flights will be offered through Via Airlines as part of the airport's 2018 expansion, according to a press release from the Branson Airport.

Flights will be scheduled Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday of each week from May 24 through September 3 of this year.

The airport said there will be occasional flights offered on Fridays as well.

Beginning July 15, Branson Airport will begin offering daily flights for the first time since 2014.

The flights to Denver and Houston will come aboard Elite Airways. As of now, the flight schedule is set through early December.

In a news release Wednesday, executive director Jeff Bourk said the city has needed national access like this.

“This new Elite Airways’ service will deliver over 100 connections to major cities all over the country with multiple flight options, making it easier than ever for visitors to get to our exciting destination.”

Starting in May, travelers out of the Branson Airport will have new destination options and larger airplanes to get there.  KSMU’s Michele Skalicky has more.

The Branson Airport has announced service to three additional locations.  Beginning May 6th, Branson AirExpress, operated by Orange Air, will offer non-stop flights to New Orleans and Cincinatti.  It will also offer service to Cancun with one stop and no plane change in New Orleans.  Rachel Wood is the airport’s spokesperson.

Branson Airport is hoping new commitments in 2015 will fill some of the gaps left after this year’s canceling of service from Southwest and Frontier airlines.

The airport will rely on charter brand service to do so. Last week, it announced flights for the start of next year’s tourism season. That includes flights to Denver, a hole left after Frontier’s announcement to pull out of Branson, and service to Austin, Texas.

Frontier Airlines will no longer fly out of Branson Airport. The airline, which ended this years’ service on Oct. 25, now says it will not return in 2015.

Frontier first began serving Branson in 2010. Recently, it has only offered flights to and from Denver.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that Frontier is exiting 20 markets from Denver in late 2014 and early 2015.
