Greene County Election

Greene County officials can move forward with plans for a jail expansion and/or renovation.  Preliminary results show 60 percent of voters who cast ballots Tuesday said yes to a ½ cent sales tax for general revenue.    Extra tax revenue will support treatment courts and community mental health initiatives in hopes of decreasing the influx of prisoners.

Harold Bengsch will run unopposed in the Greene County Commission, District 1, race. There were no other candidates for that position on Tuesday’s primary ballot.  In District 2, Republican Lincoln Hough defeated David “Chester” Myers to run against Libertarian Cecil Ince in November.

Jim Arnott will have no competition in the race for Greene County Sheriff in November.  He ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary.
