The chancellor of Ozarks Technical Community College is this year’s recipient of the Missourian Award. Dr. Hal Higdon will be formally acknowledged at a ceremony next month.

The Missourian Award — established in 1994 by Mr. Ralph Slavens — honors outstanding Missourians who have made widespread contributions to the state through civic, business, arts or political work. Honorees are selected by nomination and chosen by a committee of past recipients.

The Foundation for Ozarks Technical Community College has agreed to provide up to $25,000 to help defray the potential A+ scholarship shortfall.

Missouri Community Colleges are being told by education officials that the state might reduce reimbursements for the A+ scholarship program.  KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more.

The program gives high school graduates who meet certain criteria, reimbursements for two years of classes at a community college in the state.
