Springfield Contemporary Theatre goes classical with a production of Shakespeare's The Tempest February 13-March 1 in Center Stage at Wilhoit Plaza. The original “lost” island play about romance, magic and renewal, this beloved masterpiece places the desire for revenge against the demands of love and captures the essence of the human condition with its compelling and timeless themes.

Springfield Contemporary Theatre will open 2015 with Conor McPherson's haunting, inspired Irish ghost story for our times, "Shining City" January 9-18 at SCT Center Stage at Wilhoit Plaza, downtown on the corner of Pershing and Robberson. Guilt-ridden John reaches out to a therapist after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. Wrestling with his own demons, the therapist can only do so much to help. Routine visits between the two men quickly become a gripping struggle to survive, changing both of them for the rest of their lives.

Springfield Contemporary Theatre presents Lanie Robertson's "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill," directed by Rick Dines, August 8-24 at SCT Center Stage in Wilhoit Plaza, Suite 136 on the corner of Pershing and Jefferson downtown. As Billie Holiday steps up to the microphone, her life story pours out through the songs that made her famous. In 1959, in a small intimate bar in Philadelphia, Holiday puts on a show, that unbeknownst to the audience, will be one of the last performances of her lifetime.
