Event Description

Two new exhibits will open Saturday Oct. 14 at the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, 222 W. 3rd Street in Joplin. In the Main Gallery, Spiva presents its 70th annual Membership Show. 123 Spiva member artists, including 12 children, feature their best work in ceramics, watercolor, wood, oils, metal, photography and mixed media. In Spiva's Regional Gallery, "In a Japanese Garden" explores Carol Adamec’s most recent body of art, in which she has turned to the Japanese Kimono as a vehicle for exploring color and patterning. Work in this exhibit combines her two studio interests – flowers and kimonos – into a single pursuit of color, form, and beauty. Both exhibits will run through Dec. 16. Gallery hours are Tues-Sat 10am-5pm. For information visit www.spivaarts.org or call (417) 623-0183.
