Saturday, September 19th at Bizarre Bar for Miss Fancy's Second Annual House Party and our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! There ain't no party like a House of Follies party!

Doors open at 8:30pm and the show starts at 9:30pm with a STACKED cast to keep you bumpin' and grindin' all night long!

See all your Follies Faves back on stage and meet some brand new cuties who have been working hard to bring you the best burlesk and cabaret variety show in Springfield, MO!

The show features one of a kind performances from burlesque dancers, drag performers, cabaret singers, and more!! In addition to the live show, all guests will have an opportunity to purchase tickets to enter a raffle. Raffle prizes include prize packs from local businesses and one-of-a-kind art from your performers!

MSU Campus Recreation will host the Inspire the Roar 5K on the Missouri State University campus. All fitness levels are welcome.

This Family Weekend tradition is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of Bear pride, wellness, and community. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt (while supplies last), and awards will be given to top finishers in multiple categories.

Queen City Chorale's season opens with The Sacred Veil by Eric Whitacre, a poignant work tracing love, illness, and loss. Written after lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri lost his wife to ovarian cancer, the piece reflects a reality that has touched nearly every family.

Presented in partnership with GYN Cancers Alliance during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, this concert acknowledges grief as a natural part of life while offering music as a vehicle for healing, remembrance, and connection. In addition to ticket sales, guests will be invited to make a freewill offering benefiting GYNCA and its mission to support individuals and families impacted by gynecologic cancers in the Ozarks.

QCC will close with “We Remember Them” by Susan LaBarr, a moving work by the Springfield-based composer that reminds us remembrance carries love forward long after loss.

Porch Pickin’ in Woodland Heights is back with a concert on Sunday, September 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 2120 N Boonville.

This performance features live music from Emily Higgins and Devlin Pierce.

Porch Pickin’ returns every third Sunday through October.

Adults are invited to attend Microsoft Word Basics from 10 am to noon on Tuesday, September 22, in the Midtown Carnegie Branch Library Computer Training Center.

Learn the basics of Microsoft Word: create, edit and save documents, change font size, style and color, create lists and use spell-check to edit documents.

Paws to the Polls will present the fall Voting Fair, “Show Me Civic Engagement,” on September 22, from 11:30 to 2:30. The fair will be held on the West Lawn (between Plaster Stadium and McDonald Arena), with a rainy-day backup in the Plaster Student Union’s 2^nd floor atrium. All forms of civic engagement will be highlighted, including electoral engagement, and strive to create a positive, festive atmosphere surrounding that theme.   
 
A number of community and campus public affairs-related organizations have been invited to engage with students and talk about opportunities to become involved, and the Greene County Clerk will be on hand to register voters and allow students to become familiar with voting machines used in elections.     

Adults are invited to attend Preacher Roe: The Life of a Baseball Great from the Ozarks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Library Center Annie Busch Community Room.

Local author David Jerome will host a discussion of his latest book, "Preacher Roe: The Life of a Professional Baseball Great From the Ozarks," a biography of the legendary Ozarks-born pitcher whose Major League Baseball career left a lasting mark on the game. Jerome will discuss his research, writing process and the story behind the book. Jerome is an Ozark resident, U.S. Army veteran and author with a longtime interest in preserving regional and baseball history. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

PAPER MOON (1973) screens FREE Tuesday, September 22 @ 7pm - part of the Missouri Humanies Story of Us: Missouri Through Film series at Moxie Cinema.

The Story of Us: Missouri Through Film is a series featuring films that are culturally important to Missouri in general, and the Ozarks in particular. This FREE series is sponsored by the Missouri Humanities Council and presented in partnership with Drury University. Dr. Kevin Henderson, professor of English at Drury University, will join us at The Moxie for a post show discussion.

Maverick director Peter Bogdanovich affectionately recreates the world of the 1930s Dust Bowl in this beloved, briskly entertaining chronicle of one of cinema’s unlikeliest crime sprees. Real-life father and daughter Ryan and Tatum O’Neal (who became the youngest-ever Oscar winner for her spark-plug performance) play off each other with almost musical agility as a Bible-hawking con man and the precocious, recently orphaned tomboy who falls into his care—and soon rivals her newfound father figure’s skill as a swindler. With period-perfect detail, glowing monochrome imagery by cinematographer László Kovács, and a memorable supporting cast (including the inimitable Madeline Kahn), Paper Moon is a witty, loving portrait of two natural-born hustlers on a road trip through Depression-era America. Adults are invited to attend Little House on the Prairie at 90 with Pamela Smith Hill at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Library Center Hatch Auditorium.

Award-winning author Pamela Smith Hill will share her Laura Ingalls Wilder expertise as she speaks about Wilder's original novel and offers insights into the new Netflix series adaptation. Hill's book "Too Good to Be Altogether Lost" will be available for purchase and signing. This program is presented in partnership with Missouri State University.
