Currently at the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin: in the Main Gallery, a quilt exhibit called "Food for Thought" now through June 23rd. It features 34 selected artworks created by Studio Art Quilt Associates members from around the world, and was curated by Milan, Italy-based Alex Veronelli. These quilt works examine the many aspects that food plays in our daily lives--from a single piece of fruit to a still life, from the family table to the significance of food in culture and the celebration of family milestones. And in Spiva's Regional Gallery, the "Spiva Sketchbook Project" now through June 23rd, featuring work from 37 artists. It's a celebration of an entire community engaging in the concurrent creative documentation of their thoughts, interests, hopes, and dreams.
