KSMU's Michele Skalicky talks with Convoy of Hope's Jeff Nene about what the organization is doing to help the people in Nepal after the earthquake there and what the public can do to help.
A disaster services team from Springfield-based Convoy of Hope along with equipment and supplies is on its way to Nepal. The country was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake early Saturday, which killed more than 3000 people.
According to Convoy of Hope, "as one of the poorest countries in the world, Nepal may not be well-equipped to respond to a disaster of this degree."
The organization says immediate needs in Nepal are medical care, food, water and shelter.
Convoy of Hope says its team is working with a network of 100 churches and organizations to offer support to those in need.
