IMAGES: Dedication Ceremony of MSU's New Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium

Sunday evening, around 600 people attended the dedication ceremony of the Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium at Missouri State University followed by a men’s soccer team exhibition match against Missouri Valley College. MSU men's soccer won 1-0.

The newly constructed Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium cost $10.29 million and features a NCAA regulation soccer field with room for corner kicks, a NCAA eight lane 400-meter broken back style track with nine lanes for 100-meter dash and seating for 1,000 spectators.

The dedication ceremony was a festive affair, which showcased Brass & Sass, MSU’s brass ensemble, cheerleaders, and several speakers, including MSU president Clif Smart. Smart commended students, athletes and organizations on coming together to transform the new stadium from a dream to a reality.

Earlier on Sunday, Missouri State’s women’s soccer team had a victorious home opener at Betty & Bobby Allison South, beating Utah State 2-0.

South Stadium is one of five new athletic upgrades at Missouri State University this semester, made possible by the student-approved BEAR fee and private donations.
