Influential Women Come Together to Inspire Community

2014 Women's Leadership Conference

The second annual Missouri State University women’s leadership conference, “A Force of Women,” will take place March 23-24 in Plaster Student Union and will include influential women in the arenas of business, health, sports and education. This year’s conference will encourage and educate the community on the achievements of women from around the world.

Keynote speaker: Cynthia Cooper

Cynthia Cooper is CEO of The CooperGroup, LLC, a management consulting firm that provides services in the areas of internal audit, ethics and compliance, fraud prevention and detection, board consultation and education, and enterprise risk management.

Cooper is a consultant, internationally recognized speaker and the author of “Extraordinary Circumstances,” a book that discusses her experiences as a corporate executive and lessons learned at WorldCom. It is there where Cooper was named one of Time Magazine’s Persons of the Year for her role in uncovering the WorldCom fraud. Cooper presents to professionals and students worldwide to share the lessons she has learned and to emphasize the importance of strong ethical leadership.

The conference schedule includes:

March 23

  • Opening keynote speech from Maj. Gen. Camille Nichols at 2 p.m.
  • Women in Education expertise panel at 3:30 p.m.
  • Dinner at 5 p.m., which will include a speech from Alicia McConnell, director of training sites and community partnerships for the United States Olympic Committee
  • Mentoring mixer at 6 p.m.

March 24

  • Dr. Rebeca Brinkman, owner of Denver, Colorado based Sheridan Park Chiropractic Center, will speak at 9 a.m.
  • In Defense of Women expertise panel at 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch at noon including featured keynote speaker Cooper
