The Department of Natural Resources has reopened Roaring River State Park near Cassville. The park was closed earlier this week due to flooding. The National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency for Cassville and the surrounding area Tuesday.
Missouri State Parks says the park store, Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center and some day-use areas are open. Anglers can purchase daily tags at the park store. Campers may start arriving at 3 today (7/10), according to MO DNR. Some areas of the park remain closed.
Meanwhile, floodwaters have caused the unstaffed shooting range at Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area in Christian County to be closed temporarily. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, floodwaters detached the foot bridge that connects the parking area with the range, making the shooting facility inaccessible. MDC officials say they're not sure how long the range will be closed, but they hope the bridge can be repaired and re-installed and the range re-opened in the weeks ahead.
