Springfield Senator Bob Dixon to Announce Run for Governor

Missouri Senate

The campaign for Bob Dixon says the Republican senator from Springfield has a major announcement to make regarding his statewide plans for 2016.

The formal announcement will come from the front porch of Dixon’s Springfield home on Monday morning. Dixon’s wife Amanda confirmed to KSMU Friday that an announcement regarding the senator’s intentions to run for governor had been posted to his Facebook page.

Sen. Dixon declined to comment beyond "statewide plans" until after Monday's event.

On Monday afternoon, Dixon will hold events at the state capitol in Jefferson City and then Columbia.

Dixon was elected to the Missouri State Senate in 2010. His campaign notes his sponsoring and passage of “Jessica’s Law,” which empowered local law enforcement agencies to investigate internet crimes involving children. He has worked to reform Missouri’s tax code and supported Right to Work legislation.

Dixon supports traditional marriage, is pro-life, and is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights.

Dixon would become the second politician from southwest Missouri to enter the governor's race. Sen. Mike Parson (R-Bolivar) made his plans official in late April.
