Recently a church in Springfield serving unsheltered people came out with its latest “Street Census.” Compared to 12 months ago, church officials found the number of homeless individuals in the area has doubled — even as volunteer preparations for this year's crisis winter shelters kick into high gear.

For years, Springfield has been dogged by the reality that the city’s poverty rate is sky-high, at times doubling the rate for the U.S. overall. But recently the community got a positive announcement in the struggle toward prosperity.

Today’s Making A Difference presents an overview of the 2021 Community Focus Report for Springfield and Greene County, with CFR Facilitator, Jonathan Groves, and Steering Committee Chair, Morey Mechlin.
